PIVOT on Team for Utah Intermodal Stations
PIVOT on Team for Utah Intermodal Stations
Transit facilities are about choreographing the dance between people and the systems that move them. They are about understanding each partner’s stride and cadence; size and ability. They are about making places to move and to rest. Creating these places is at the core of PIVOT Architecture. While our understanding of transit stations and vehicle-related facilities is three decades in the making, we actively seek current thinking about fixed-routes, Bus Rapid Transit, TOD and the positive impacts transit systems have on urban development. It stems from an environmental perspective we share that believes architecture’s role in a community is to repair and improve but also to leave be.

At Provo and Orem we see an opportunity in two relatively straightforward stations to build the beginnings of more dense, urban environments centered around transit. Composing the stations in such a way as to support future transit oriented development will need to be an underlying theme. In the meantime, the two stations will need to actively embrace pedestrians, buses, automobile parking and the buildings and shelters that support them. We’re looking forward to getting started.
